One More Take is the first major retrospective of John G. Zimmerman’s work. The show opens October 20, 2016 in Belgium and runs to January 2017. From the show’s curators: “Zimmerman was an icon of American magazine photography, shooting hundreds of covers and stories for major magazines such as LIFE, Time and Sports Illustrated; he was a technological pioneer for whom there was no such thing as an impossible photograph. As one of the ‘Mad Men’ of the 1960s-1970s, he produced innovative ad campaigns for Pepsi, Marlboro, etc. His multi-faceted work will be on display at the Abtenhuis, a majestic historical building in the Belgian city of Geraardsbergen that has been closed to the public for decades until now.”
On the occasion of this exhibition, Hannibal Publishing proudly presents America in Black and White: Selected Photographs of John G. Zimmerman, the first book devoted to Zimmerman’s early work in black and white.
Organization: Stad Geraardsbergen, in cooperation with Provincie Oost-Vlaanderen, PXL MAD, University of Leuven, LUCA School of Arts, University of Luxembourg, and the John G. Zimmerman Archive.
